Do you have the sniffles?
It seems we are barely out of summer and already, the sniffles have begun! What is it about the colder weather that does that, huh?
So, now is the time to work on boosting your immune system folks! What better way to do that, than with FOOD!!
Here are 5 foods that can help with your immune health:
Garlic contains Allicin which is a chemical compound that acts as a natural antibiotic due to its antimicrobial properties. In English, it can help support a healthy immune system.
Onions are rich in the plant-based compound called polyphenols that are recognized for their disease prevention, antioxidant and anti-aging properties.
Nutrient dense broccoli contains vitamin C which is an amazing antioxidant, which helps fight those nasty free radicals in our bodies. Vitamin C also promotes healing and keeps your immune system in check.
4. Green Tea
Rich in antioxidants!
This is the granddaddy of them all! Ginger helps minimize inflammation, supports the body's natural recovery process and yes provides valuable support for your immune system. Ginger also has antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant properties. Seemingly ginger can do no wrong!
Bonus - Goes without saying ... citrus fruits!
The above foods are all whole, natural and from the earth (mostly). This list is by no means definitive though. There are many, many other foods that help in boosting or keeping your immune system running smoothly. There's no guarantee you won't get the sniffles over the coming months, but I encourage you to think about preventative maintenance for overall health!
Hungry? I know of some good ingredients you can use in a recipe or two!
Yours in health and wellness,
